Editorship: Marija Stanonik
Period: since 1988 (ZRC SAZU since 2014)

The idea of a collection of folk tales from the present day, covering the Slovenian cultural area, matured in the minds of the series' editor, academic Maria Stanonik, for several years until it was presented in 1985 to the most ardent and faithful contributors in this field and those who would become them. For publication in the series, the popular stories from this field were considered first and foremost. In order to be as authentic as possible in their form, their vocabulary and syntax are faithful to the living language, and their vocabulary is adapted to the literary language of today, so that any Slovene reader can follow them. The technical level of the series is further enhanced by the lists of dialect vocabulary and the editor's accompanying text with a comprehensive overview of the area from which the stories originate. Almost 60 books with more than 3000 stories have been published in the collection so far.
