Poljanska dolina is a valley in the southwestern part of Gorenjska, transitioning on one side to the hills of Polhograjsko hribovje and on the other to the Posočje region, and encompasses the Poljanščica river basin. Side valleys and deep ravines cut into the hills on both sides of the Sora river. Clustered villages have developed along the main road through the valley, while scattered settlements, hamlets, and isolated farms are found in the hilly areas. The Loško estate of the Freising bishops (973–1803) and, after the First World War, the proximity of the Rapallo border have left a distinctive mark on the valley. The Poljane Valley is administratively covered by the municipalities of Žiri, Gorenja vas-Poljane, and partly Škofja Loka.
The title of the 60th book in the collection, which has been published since 1988, Vsak naslednji otrok je lepši ('Every Next Child is More Beautiful'), evokes joy. Fifty-three writers have preserved 1,464 folklore and memoir stories, entrusted to them by 148 storytellers.
It is a celebration when we still come across fairy tales, and this time there are mostly animal tales in the first section, though others are also present. There is a rich selection of so-called legendary tales and even more ethnological material with a traditional rural background, but the episode of the Žirovski vrh uranium mine contributed decisively to the deagrarisation of the environment, which is the theme of the social tales. A special feature of the book is the animal tales and Poljane wisdom.
