The very old Slovenian prayers (Zlati očenaš – The Golden Our Father, Marijine sanje – Mary's Dream, the prayer against storms) contain a number of mythological motives in addition to the ones relating to the Passion. As regards genre, they range from prayers of praise, prayers of intercession, to narrative prayers and children's prayers. As for their function, they are primarily used as morning or evening prayers, interceding with holy persons in times of distress. Various variants attest to their broad (private) use. When examining their chronology, is it very useful to know how users learned them.
