A comprehensive treatment of the development of narrative folklore in international and Slovenian spheres reveals insight into fundamental ways in which narrative has been transmitted, transformed and researched throughout the world and through the time. Literature and literary folklore have always inspired one another. Thus, despite great distances – both in space and time – narrative folklore is the common treasure of many nations. Presented is the legacy of the oldest known civilisations as well as traces and further development of narratives and storytelling. In this book ('Narrative Folklore: Evolution and Research') are also analysed and defined different genres of narrative folklore. Presented are also the research methods and different theories that were or are still used in folkloristics and contemporary narrative culture.
